As we’re getting older, the possibility of having a c-section is in the back of our minds. Honestly, that possibility terrifies me.
Several friends who have had c-sections, whether elective or emergency, voice their desire to have been more prepared or to know ways to make the next surgery a better experience. So I was glad when Mindy Brouse sent a copy of her e-book, Make the Most of Your C-section: Prepare for a More Natural and Personalized Birth, for review.
After having five babies, I’ve read my fair share of pregnancy books and usually skimmed the scary parts about c-section. I wish I’d had Mindy’s book years ago.
The mother of six children, all born via c-section, Mindy wrote this e-book so that it’s applicable to the first time mama-to-be as well as the woman who has already experienced a c-section.
Seasoned with the perfect blend of humor and reality, Mindy explains the nuts and bolts of the surgery, but in a down-to-earth, non-intimidating way–like a good friend who truly cares about women having a satisfying birth experience.
After preparing for an all-natural, non-medicated birth, Mindy found herself having a c-section. Reading her description gave me a glimpse into the scary emotions she experienced, but I also felt her strength emerge as she decided to take control of future c-sections and encourages readers to do the same.
The e-book includes ways to prepare physically and emotionally, giving suggestions ranging from the best days for a planned c-section to ideas for postpartum care, including asking for help, easy meal choices, fitness, and general guidelines for staying healthy.
Suggestions are appropriate not only for typical c-sections but also the new “family-centered c-section,” a procedure she describes in detail to give readers more options.
The part I found most interesting was the interview section in the Appendix, including input from an experienced Certified Nurse Midwife, a Registered Nurse, and an Obstetrician.
Mindy adds a special personal touch to her e-book by including several pictures of her beautiful babies at their births. The transformation she experienced is evidenced by the joyful expressions seen within her family as they welcomed each new child.
If you’re planning a c-section, want to be prepared just in case, or are simply looking for good quality material to gain information, I highly recommend Mindy’s e-book. You can purchase one by visiting her site, or you can enter to win your own copy here!

This would be a really interesting read! I had a c/section with my daughter and wished I had this to read before.
Caylynne, it’s a great book. 🙂 Good luck. 🙂
This would be a great book for me. My first baby, who is now 3, was c-section and I’m due Nov. 19th with my second baby that will be c-section. This will help me alot, since i never intended a c-section with my first, but it was an emergency. My best advice to someone is to walk as soon as you can. it will help with swelling.
Thanks for sharing, Christa! Perhaps you’ll win and get it just in time? If not, be sure to visit Mindy’s site and Facebook pages for more info.
Will def be reading this book!
I’m pregnant and there’s a big possibility I’ll have C section the beginning of next year, so this will be a perfect book for me. I planned for a natural birth, but from my condition, it might be too risky.

This book looks so interesting. I have had nine natural births but the last two were iffy…nearly a c-section with both and it would have been nice to be prepared just in case. Thanks for the recommendation.
Keep up the God work.
I just had my second c/s in May. My advice would be to walk as soon as you can, don’t try to do too much that first couple of weeks, and keep on top of your pain meds if you need them!
